Warriors Wonder: Curry activates “Sicko Mode” in final preseason game

Stephen Curry did a ton of damage against the Los Angeles Lakers in the one quarter he played. He left due to illness and didn’t return, probably sickened by his own dominance.

My new favorite Stephen Curry highlight mixtape is entitled “Sicko Mode,” synced to the killer Travis Scott/Drake banger of the same name. It’s a beautifully edited music video tracking Curry’s triumphant return to the postseason from his debilitating knee injury last year. It’s just clip after clip of Curry mercilessly terrorizing and dancing on hapless defenders.

I didn’t expect him to activate that level of Sicko Mode in the final preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers in San Jose last night, though. 16 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, and 0 turnovers in TWELVE MINUTES?! “Unanimous” only played one quarter and lit the Lakers up like a Christmas tree, possibly sending a message knowing these teams will play December 25th.

Curry was 5-of-10 from the field and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. We all should have known he was going to be a problem when he strutted into the arena disguised as a shark.

Curry’s playful fury began to warp the defense in the infant stages of the game, starting with this laser.

As he skipped around the court, cooking defenders in true Chef Curry fashion, the Lakers defense began to warp around him. Obviously, they figured by keeping bodies around him at the three-point arc they could slow down the barrage. Unfortunately for the Lake Show, this is where Curry shifted to his other strength as a visionary facilitating point guard.

That’s the beauty of Curry’s game; the only way to defend him is to leave his teammates wiiiide open. Those teammates are blessed because, much like Liam Neeson looking for his daughter’s/wife’s/grandma’s kidnappers in the “Taken” film series, Curry will find them.

That bench reaction was pretty hilarious; does anyone have more fun terrorizing the league than the Golden State Warriors?

After that full quarter of annihilation, Curry did not return due to illness.

Damn, he really was in Sicko Mode!
