The Golden State Warriors were manhandled for their most humiliating loss of the season and will be without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green as they try to bounce back against a Brooklyn Nets team playing the second game of a back-to-back.
Here we discuss the odds and analysis from a betting perspective.
When: Saturday, November 10th, 2018 at 5:30pm PST
Where: Oracle Arena, Oakland, California
TV: NBC Sports Bay Area
Line: Warriors -7.5 points, total at 225
Injuries: DeMarre Carroll (ankle) is probable and Treveon Graham (hamstring) is out for the Nets.
Stephen Curry (groin) is out, Draymond Green (toe) is out, Shaun Livingston (foot) is out and DeMarcus Cousins (Achilles) is out for the Warriors.
Brooklyn will be playing the second game of a back-to-back following an impressive upset win at the Denver Nuggets as 8.5 point underdogs, and have now covered three straight games.
The Nets are led by Caris LeVert scoring 20.3 points per game, Ed Davis with 7.9 rebounds per game and DeAngelo Russell dishing 5.1 assists per game.
Brooklyn is scoring 109.6 points per game (21st of 30), surrendering 108.8 points per game (9th of 30), earning a simple rating system (SRS) score of -0.58 (19th of 30), pace factor of 97.6 (26th of 30), offensive rating of 111.3 (11th of 30) and defensive rating of 110.4 (17th of 30).
The Nets are 7-5 against the spread (ATS) and 6-6 to the over/under
Since 2017, Brooklyn has covered ATS 70.0 percent of the time as an away underdog, 69.6 percent of the time as the away team and 61.1 percent of the time on no rest, though they are 0-2 ATS with no rest this season.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors sorely missed their best defender in Draymond Green as they got outplayed in almost every aspect of the game in their 111-134 trouncing by the Milwaukee Bucks, and now will also be without their best shooter in Stephen Curry.
Golden State is led by Steph Curry scoring 29.5 points per game, Kevin Durant grabbing 7.3 rebounds per game and Draymond Green with 7.9 assists per game.
The Dubs are scoring 122.4 points per game (1st of 30), allowing 111.8 points per game (20th of 30), earning a SRS score of 10.29 (3rd of 30), pace factor of 101.9 (9th of 30), offensive rating of 120.1 (1st of 30) and defensive rating of 109.7 (15th of 30).
Golden State is now 7-5 ATS and 7-5 to the over/under. Since 2017, the Dubs are 17-13 ATS after a loss.
Warriors have historically bounced back after a loss but could be in for a challenge without Steph and Draymond on Saturday night, facing a Nets team that has some momentum.
Brooklyn has covered the last four contests against the Warriors and seven of the last nine match-ups between these teams, with four of the last five going under the total.
Though we expect the Warriors to win the game, picking a side in a game without Steph and Draymond against a Nets team that is rolling and has historically played well against the Dubs is a tough call.
The Warriors offense will be lacking without Steph’s scoring and Draymond’s facilitating, possible leading to isolation plays set up for KD which could slow down the game.
Factor the Nets playing with a slower pace this season, at altitude last night and the second game of a back-to-back which could make fatigue a factor, we see less points being scored in this game and lean toward under 225 points.
