We’re always excited to see Golden State Warriors players give back to their community. But sometimes that kindness and generosity towards the Bay Area community comes from outside the Warriors organization, too.

Such is the case this holiday season, as Aaron Gordon of the Orlando Magic is giving 400 Thanksgiving meals to Oakland families today, Monday, November 19. The meals will be available starting at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, which is located at 892 36th Street.

Gordon, who is averaging 17.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this year, while leading the Magic to a surprisingly good start, has a lot of ties to the area. He was born and raised in San Jose, and starred at Archbishop Mitty High School there. It’s clear he has a lot of love for Northern California.

It’s a pretty wonderful thing he’s doing to help out the community that he grew up in.
