NBA fans have waited nearly 11 months for the return of DeMarcus Cousins. Golden State Warriors fans have waited more than five months, since the shocking news that he was signing with the defending champions on a one-year deal.
And that return is so, so close. Cousins is basically ready to play, from a health standpoint, but the team is slow-playing him so as to debut him at full strength. They’ve been open about wanting to have him not only in game shape, but in a good basketball rhythm when he first dons a Dubs jersey.
To help get there, Cousins has been practicing with the Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State’s G League affiliate, to experience more intense practices. Footage of that practice hadn’t been available until now, when Showtime Sports dropped a video with Cousins talking about his rehab, and showing him in those practices.
It’s selective footage, of course, but that doesn’t change the fact that Cousins looks good. While it doesn’t mean much, it’s certainly enough to get us all hyped.
