Gather around the yule log and watch the Warriors host Lebron and the Lakers

warm up with a new Game of Zones Christmas special, and then settle in for another installment of Golden State’s beautiful brand of ball

Merry christmas everyone!!

Hopefully your dinner is roasting in the oven as the Golden State Warriors prepare to roast the Los Angeles Lakers in our annual Christmas showdown against Lebron James.

Speaking of roasting Lebron...

The genius minds behind Game of Zones just gave us all a surprise gift by dropping another funny little cartoon. This time, they focus on Lebron James’ procession into the Lakers fandom - and his troubles getting into the good graces of Kobe Bryant’s most ardent fans.
None of this matters much to Warriors fans just yet, but if James wants to cement his name in Lakers’ lore, his path will have to go through Golden State.

Last-minute updates?

I’ve heard rumors that Javale McGee may actually appear to receive his ring today. He’s been hospitalized for three days with pneumonia, and was publicly announced as not even making the trip.

A fan favorite, and all-around solid human, everyone is rooting for McGee to get health and make the trip. Either way though, the Lakers are going to sorely miss him today. Much like the Warriors, they came into the season with a less than stellar plan of options at the Center position. Without McGee, and because the Warriors have a propensity to go small, this is probably not a great matchup for new-ish acquisition Tyson Chandler - who is more of a traditional rumbling rim-protector.

Finally, the Warriors listed Durant as “likely” after a mild ankle roll sustained in the last game. Intrepid beat reporter, Anthony Slater unequivocally said he’s playing, so I’m just mentioning this as an aside. The Warriors are finishing up three games in four nights, so Kerr is probably wishfully hoping for an easy coast across the finish line that will allow Durant to get some extra rest today.

Happy Holidays from me, the Warriors and all the Golden State of Mind staff!

It is a privilege writing here and getting to share ideas (or shoot them down) together. Thanks for a fantastic year, now let’s all ask Santa for a little Warriors Christmas Day magic.
