Explain One Play: Nick Young, yes, Swaggy beats OKC

Nick Young came into a tight game and keyed a four-minute 14-0 run which won the OKC-GSW game. In his short shift, he shot threes, rebounded, defended, made bad choices, got lost, hustled, was flattened by Westbrook, performed two angry shimmies and made lifelong friends along the way. Co-starring Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson, from the Feb 24 2018 game.

Nick Young came into a tight game and keyed a four-minute 14-0 run which won the OKC-GSW game. In his short shift, he shot threes, rebounded, defended, made bad choices, got lost, hustled, was flattened by Russell Westbrook, performed two angry shimmies and made lifelong friends along the way.

We also point out some ball-watching defense by Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony. We also point out — lost in the outcry over Zaza Pachulia’s suspicious looking fall on Westbrook — that Westbrook caused the whole mess with his reckless rebounding and made Nick Young really mad, which likely directly led to his two shimmied right at the Thunder bench and almost led to Westbrook getting into a fight with Young.

So here’s a video analysis of Nick Young’s beatdown of the Thunder. Co-starring Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson.

It’s not likely in a future rematch with OKC that Nick Young is going to pour in 16 points. But it’s also not likely that Raymond Felton will be a scoring machine for OKC either. Paul George, Westbrook and Anthony won’t all shoot as badly, so OKC remains a tough matchup for GSW. But this last game, GSW found that their defense, when played with a energy, can disrupt the OKC attack. OKC especially had difficulty answering GSW’s double teams. So adjustments remain to be made if the two teams should meet in the playoffs.
