Gregg Popovich to miss game four

The Spurs coach will miss his second consecutive game after the passing of his wife.

For the second playoff game in a row, the San Antonio Spurs will be without their head coach. Following the death of his wife Erin, Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich will not coach on Sunday against the Golden State Warriors.

The Spurs will instead be coached by assistant Ettore Messina. It likely won’t be Messina’s final game pacing the sidelines as the man in charge, as he is already the target of numerous NBA teams looking to fill their head coach holes for next season.

The Spurs have their backs against the wall, as they trail the Warriors 3-0. They will be fighting to keep their season going, and to send the series back to Oakland for a game five.

It goes without saying that the entire Spurs’ organization (as well as the Warriors’ organization) is playing with heavy hearts. Our thoughts are with the Popovich family, and the whole Spurs community.
