Warriors vs. Pelicans Game 1 halftime score: Golden State lead, 76-55

Steve Kerr threw out a curveball by starting Nick Young, but let’s try Kevon Looney.

The Golden State Warriors got their second round series against the New Orleans Pelicans underway and head into halftime up big, 76-55.

The big news so far is that Steve Kerr started Nick Young instead if opting for a more traditional lineup with a big like Kevon Looney or JaVale McGee. And there was logic to that move.

Unfortunately, Anthony Davis is a problem that your cute lineup changes don’t easily solve — New Orleans stayed with Golden State early and Davis was a big part of that.

However, going more traditional with a lineup including Kevon Looney helped turned the tide as the promising young big was able to bother Davis a bit more consistently while also getting his on offense.

Ultimately, the lineup of Looney, Draymond Green, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Andre Iguodala went on a 24-2 run late in the second quarter to help the Warriors head into halftime up big.
