Steph Curry will finally return to the Golden State Warriors’ lineup when they face the New Orleans Pelicans in the second round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs tonight.
To be clear, Warriors coach Steve Kerr would not commit to saying that Curry would start or even definitely play as of yesterday afternoon, according to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle. Nevertheless, there are a few things we know for sure:
- If he comes back, he won’t be on a minutes restriction.
- Curry wanted to play in Game 1, but Kerr, general manager Bob Myers and head trainer Chelsea Lane nixed it, according to Marc Spears of The Undefeated.
- Curry’s less than healthy return from injury in the 2016 playoffs probably did influence the Warriors’ decision to hold him out longer this time around.
The Warriors may have rushed Steph Curry back in the 2016 playoffs -- 15-day absence following Grade 1 MCL sprain. That likely played a role in their cautiousness this time -- 5.5 weeks for Grade 2. Kerr: "In retrospect, maybe he wasn't quite himself." pic.twitter.com/EwKrDZESsV
