Gamethread: Warriors look for commanding lead against Rockets

Game 2 presents a huge opportunity for Golden State.

NBA: Playoffs-Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets Erik Williams-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors have quite an opportunity tonight. The Western Conference Finals were billed as an ultra-tight showdown between virtually equal teams. Instead, on the road, the Warriors thoroughly outclassed the Houston Rockets in Game 1.

Now they have a chance to take a commanding 2-0 lead back to Oracle Arena. It won’t be easy - the Rockets are still very good, and are at home. But it goes without saying that the Warriors are really, really, really good, and Game 1 showed that they have a special energy they are ready to unleash. That energy figures to play in Game 2.

And you know who they’ve got in their corner? Leandro Barbosa!

Kind of hard to disagree with that, isn’t it?!

Not surprisingly, Steve Kerr is once again keeping his lineups a secret. Kerr opted for the Hamptons 5 lineup to start Game 1, but many of the team’s best minutes came with Kevon Looney on the court, so he is surely an option. Kerr certainly isn’t tipping his hand, though.

Lose, and we’ve got a crazy, five-game series on our hands. Win, and this series is all but over.

Let’s Go Dubs!!!
