There have been workouts. There have been interviews. There has been news, and endless amounts of mock drafts.
And finally, it’s here. The 2018 NBA Draft is officially off and running. What will the Suns do?
The Phoenix Suns have the top pick, and the consensus is that they’ll take Arizona center DeAndre Ayton. However, there have been rumors that the Suns will trade the pick, and today it was revealed that they may try to acquire a second pick in the lottery. This is a chance for a very bad team to make some big moves.
How will the next picks shake out?
After Ayton, it’s a total crapshoot. There are a huge number of players who could all go very high in the draft, and it’s unclear how they’ll shake out. Look at multiple mock drafts, and you’ll find a huge space between where a lot of players are going in different mocks.
In other words, prepare for chaos.
Who gets Doncic?
The most exciting player in the draft is Slovenian superstar Luka Doncic, a 6’8” point guard with elite playmaking skills and scoring ability. But while analysts and writers seem to believe he is the clear best prospect, no one knows where he will go.
He could fall to the third or fourth pick, and there are a lot of rumors that the teams with those picks (the Atlanta Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies, respectively), would rather trade the pick.
Whoever gets Doncic is getting a potential star, but it’s very unclear what team that will be.
What do the Warriors do?
Golden State has the 28th pic in the draft, and is openly looking into purchasing a second round selection. Who will they draft in the first round? Will they get a second pick? There are a lot of possibilities for the Warriors.
