Isaiah Thomas predicts a Warriors sweep

The former Cav is not optimistic about Cleveland’s chances.

Isaiah Thomas may have started the season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he’s not very high on their chances of completing a comeback against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.

The All-Star point guard was on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night, playing a game titled “Generation Gap NBA Edition” against similarly-named Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas. The younger Thomas (no relation) was getting shutout in the game, when he quipped, “I’m like the Cavs, I’m gonna get swept.”

It’s hard not to laugh at that one.

Isaiah Thomas began the year in Cleveland after being the headlining piece of an offseason trade. He was traded from the Boston Celtics to the Cavs, along with Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, the Brooklyn Nets’ 2018 first round draft pick, and the Miami Heat’s 2020 second round pick, in exchange for Kyrie Irving.

But a hip injury sidelined Thomas until January, and he played only 15 lackluster games for Cleveland, before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Thomas reportedly clashed with members of the team, and certainly didn’t leave on the greatest of terms, so his proclamation that Cleveland would be swept has a little something extra to it.
