A third year in the Bay Area seems likely for the lovable athletic center.

With free agency officially underway, players are now looking for teams, and teams are looking for players. The Golden State Warriors have a handful of players entering free agency, and another contract with JaVale McGee has always looked pretty likely.

But they’re not the only team interested in the athletic center’s services. According to a report, the Los Angeles Lakers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and New Orleans Pelicans are interested and options.

However, the potential return to Oakland isn’t just speculation. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that “The Warriors have reached out to JaVale McGee to express interest in re-signing him, a source has confirmed.”

It would seem the Warriors have the clear leg up in the competition. Earlier this week, McGee stated that he wanted to return to Golden State, and would even like to finish his career there. Given that information, and the team’s interest, smart money would say that McGee and the Warriors reach a deal.

Still, free agency is crazy, and you never know what will happen. The Lakers, Thunder, and Pelicans could offer McGee more money, or more years. The Lakers could possibly offer him a starting role. The Warriors could fill out their center position with someone else (Dwight Howard is a possibility).

McGee will likely explore his options before making a decision. But when all is said and done, all signs point towards another year with the Warriors.
