During the 2018 NBA Playoffs, it became clear that Zaza Pachulia would not return to Golden State. The Warriors carried six centers on the roster, four of them younger than Pachulia. The 15-year NBA veteran is entering the twilight of his career.
Despite his limited playing time in the 2017-2018 season, Pachulia contributed on and off the court to the team. In 69 regular season games, Pachulia averaged 5.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and made 80 percent of his free throws. During his extended bench stay during the playoffs, Pachulia operated as a player-coach of sorts, constantly picking up the team despite not playing.
The Pistons are adding a tough veteran leader who can back up Andre Drummond. Warriors fans will remember Pachulia as a key role player who helped bring two championships to the Bay.
