Nick Young arrested for obstruction of justice

The former Warriors guard had a rough Friday night in Hollywood.

The summer hasn’t quite gone according to plan for Nick Young. After winning a title with the Golden State Warriors, Young, a free agent, has yet to sign on with another team. There aren’t very many open roster spots left, so it seems likely that Young will have to settle for the veteran’s minimum somewhere.

And on top of that, Young just had a little bit of a mix up with the law. According to TMZ Sports, Young was arrested late on Friday night in Hollywood, California.

The report (which includes a video), states that Young was arrested for obstruction of justice, after he failed to comply with officers during a routine traffic stop. That’s not ideal.

On a personal note, he was arrested right down the street from my apartment. Clearly I missed an opportunity to first report some breaking Warriors news!

With the arrest, it’s safe to assume that it will be a little while longer before Young signs with an NBA team. In the 2017-18 season, Young’s 11th in the NBA and first with the Warriors, “Swaggy P” averaged 7.3 points per game, while shooting 37.7% from three point range.
