Week one is done. On Monday, the Golden State Warriors held their Media Day, which officially marked the beginning of the 2018-19 NBA season, and their quest to three-peat as NBA champions. Saturday, they host the Minnesota Timberwolves in a preseason game.
In between, they practiced.
The first week of practice featured some highs - DeMarcus Cousins partook in pre-practice drills, and rookie Jacob Evans III got to get his feet wet - and it featured some lows - Andre Iguodala suffered a minor rib injury, and Patrick McCaw was nowhere to be seen.
But above all else, it was a standard welcome back to basketball. And to mark the occasion, the Warriors’ video team put a lot of week one footage on their YouTube channel, allowing us to get extremely hyped about the upcoming season - which kicks off in just 18 days.
This first video highlights two new players on the team - Evans, and stretch forward Jonas Jerebko.
This next video, which heavily features coach Steve Kerr, focuses on the young players on the team, primarily Damian Jones.
And then there’s a behind-the-scenes video from media day, featuring Draymond Green messing around, DeMarcus Cousins putting on a Warriors jersey for the first time, and even Klay Thompson showing off his dribbling moves!
Finally, there’s a great welcome back week one video. If you’re looking for compelling soundbites and footage of Steph Curry and Kevin Durant hoisting jumpers, this one is for you.
If these don’t get you hyped for the season, I’m not sure what will.
