Friday night was the induction ceremony for the class of 2018 at the Basketball Hall of Fame. In addition to the 13 people getting inducted - which included Golden State Warriors president and COO Rick Welts, and special consultant Steve Nash - it was a who’s who of basketball royalty.
Players, coaches, executives, voices, and innovators all gathered for the ceremony, to celebrate some of the most important people in the history of the sport.
One such person who showed up was the man, the myth, the legend: Don Nelson. Nelson, who played for 14 years, and coached for 31 (including 11 seasons with the Warriors) has mostly been in the shadows since retiring in 2010.
But he showed up at the Hall of Fame ceremony to celebrate his fellow greats, including Nash, who played for Nelson’s Dallas Mavericks teams for six years.
And boy did he show up looking like something. I’ll let Twitter lead this discussion. Buckle up.
