Bobby Portis is, apparently, not a very big fan of Kevin Durant. After the Golden State Warriors destroyed the Chicago Bulls on Friday, the fourth-year forward took to the media to accuse Durant of playing dirty, and attempting to injure Portis.
Portis left the game with numbness in his elbow following a collision of sorts with Durant. The Warriors superstar was fighting around a Portis screen, when the Bulls reserve had his arm tangled up and pulled in an odd direction. But, according to Portis, it was no accident.
“Yeah, that wasn’t inadvertent,” Portis said, as reported by Joe Cowley ofthe Chicago Sun-Times. “If I would have done that I would have got a foul call on me, defensive foul. I guess it’s just who you’re playing against. Everything is officiated different toward whoever it is, but if you look back at the video at the time, it was obvious.”
That is, of course, a little bit rich coming from a player who broke his teammates jaw with a punch before the start of the 2017-18 season. But Portis feels that he’s officiated differently because of that incident, and is upset that others aren’t held to the same standards.
No one else seemed very perturbed by the incident, and Bulls coach Jim Boylen even said that the act was not malicious. Portis did confront Durant during the game, however, and KD seemed a little confused as to what was the matter.
Understandably. There sure didn’t seem to be much there. Then again, when you lose by 37 points, you tend to get easily upset.
