Random in-game notes
- Klay misses some looks, gets annoyed, mixes up a switch with Looney, causes a foul.
- I guess Steph isn’t running the Q2 gang any more?
- McKinnie gets stuck guarding DAJ in the late. Fights him hard, gets a turnover for a Steph hot dog pass to Andre dunk.
- Draymond was limping after the Barnes jumper. Kerr calls timeout. Let’s hope it’s nothing...
- I don’t watch Doncic enough to know but... why doesn’t he shoot that step back 3 all the time? Like Harden spam rates? It looks like butter every time I’ve seen him.
- KD had a 1 on 1 in transition -- he’s historically awesome in that situation -- but he pulls out mysteriously. Then he finds Steph for the 3.
- Dray looks not himself in Q3.
- Everyone knows I love McKinnie, but he should *never* be driving with the ball.
- I don’t watch Doncic enough to know but... why doesn’t he shoot that step back 3 all the time? Like Harden spam rates? It looks like butter every time I’ve seen him.
- Since I wrote this, Luka his missed 3 in a row.
- Then Steph took a completely irresponsible step back 3 from near the logo with 0:45 in a tie game. And made it.
- Klay and Steph need to have a training from Human Resources about calling timeout when trapped, instead of chucking up a blind pass.
- Steph with 48, in post-game interview, steers the conversation to defense by everyone else. “Defense by Dray and KD and Andre, even Klay for those last 3, 4 possessions. Shots are good, but defense wins games.”
- Slater says: Steve Kerr said Kevin Durant changed up a couple plays in the huddle late tonight, suggested to flip spots with Steph Curry so Steph could get the ball
- Gonna check out the tape for this. I didn’t see flipped spots, but their double punch play has different options as well as obviously the pick and roll forcing switch to iso, and Steph ended up handling down the stretch.
