Will no rest stop the Warriors’ momentum from covering 6-points against the Pelicans?

Golden State is in a groove but will be returning from a road trip and playing the second game of a back-to-back when they host the Pelicans on Wednesday.

The Golden State Warriors reminded the Denver Nuggets and the rest of the NBA of who rules the Western Conference in their 142-111 demolition and fireworks display on Tuesday night, continuing an offensive groove that makes all the pundits who called their dynasty over look like buffoons.

But can they keep the momentum and positivity going after returning from a road trip and playing in the second game of a back-to-back? Here we discuss the odds and analysis from a betting perspective.

When: Wednesday January 16th, 2019 at 7:30pm PST

Where: Oracle Arena, Oakland, California

TV: ESPN

Line: Warriors -6, total is at 240

Injuries: New Orleans has no reported injuries at this time.

Draymond Green (knee) is probable, DeMarcus Cousins (Achilles) and Damian Jones (pectoral) are out for the Warriors.

New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans are 21-23 on the season, coming off of a 121-117 win at the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday and have won four of their last five.

New Orleans is led by Anthony Davis scoring 29.4 points per game and grabbing 13.3 rebounds per game, and Jrue Holiday with 8.2 assists per game.

The Pelicans are scoring 117.0 points per game (3rd of 30), allowing 114.8 points per game (26th of 30), earning a simple rating system (SRS) score of 2.49 (12th of 30), pace factor of 102.0 (6th of 30), offensive rating of 114.7 (3rd of 30) and defensive rating of 112.5 (24th of 30).

New Orleans is 20-24 against the spread (ATS), 23-21 to the over/under, 6-8 ATS as an away underdog, 9-14 ATS as the away team, 9-5 to the over/under as an away underdog and 12-7 to the over/under as an underdog this season.

Golden State Warriors

Golden State moved to 30-14 and atop the Western Conference, playing with an offensive fluidity, potency and joy that has been the fiber of their championship character.

Prior to the Nuggets game, the Warriors were led by Stephen Curry scoring 29.4 points per game and Kevin Durant with 7.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.

Not counting the Nuggets game, Golden State was scoring 117.4 points per game (2nd of 30), allowing 111.7 points per game (20th of 30), earning a SRS score of 5.39 (3rd of 30), pace factor of 100.1 (10th of 30), offensive rating of 116.2 (1st of 30) and defensive rating of 110.5 (16th of 30).

The Dubs are 19-25 ATS, 24-20 to the over/under, 10-12 ATS as a home favorite, 2-4 ATS with no rest, 23-16 to the over/under as a favorite, 18-11 to the over/under after a win and 3-3 to the over/under on no rest this season.

Analysis

The Dubs have won three straight against the Pelicans and covered two of those contests, though they could come back to earth a bit after such an offensive explosion, returning from a road trip at altitude and playing on no rest.

But we have seen the Warriors play with this offensive flow and enthusiasm before and when they do and Oracle is rocking, they are pretty much unstoppable, SEGABABA be damned.

And with Steph Curry playing in a manner reminiscent of his unanimous MVP season, we are not going to step in front of his team. If we are playing, we are laying the six with the Dubs.
