The Golden State Warriors impressive comeback victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night was a lot of things: It was fun.It was compelling. It was dramatic.
And it was also a bit historic. The Warriors had an offensive explosion, and it stood out, even for a team that’s full of offensive explosions.
Golden State poured in 147 points against the Pelicans, just one night after raining in 142 against the Denver Nuggets, which made them the first team in nearly a decade to hit the 140 mark in consecutive games.
Per @bball_ref, the Warriors are the first team to score at least 140 points in consecutive games since the Phoenix Suns did so in three-straight games from Feb. 17-20, 2009. The Warriors last posted back-to-back 140-point games from Jan. 20-27, 1967 (three-straight).

The Dubs will take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday, with a chance to make it a highly impressive three in a row. They’ve now scored 140 or more five times this season.
How did they score so many points? Well, with a franchise record-tying 24 three-pointers, which came on a franchise-record 49 attempts.
The Warriors matched a franchise-record for three-point field goals made with 24 threes on a franchise-record 49 attempts. Golden State previously set the record of 24 earlier this season on Oct. 29 at Chicago.

All but two of those came from the Warriors All-Star starters, as Steph Curry notched nine triples, Kevin Durant had five, and both Klay Thompson and Draymond Green splashed in four. All four of those players made at least half of their attempts from distance.
The Warriors haven’t quite lived up to their (wildly high) expectations this season, but last night was a reminder that their record shouldn’t distract from the fact that they’re having a historically great offensive season.
