Will Warriors keep rolling and get revenge at the Lakers as 10.5-point favorites on MLK Day?

Golden State lost to the Lakers at home on Christmas but will now have DeMarcus Cousins for this holiday contest at Staples on MLK Day.

The Golden State Warriors have been hitting an offensive stride and that momentum was only aided by DeMarcus Cousins in his debut for the Warriors at the Staples Center on Friday.

The Dubs will play in the Staples Center again on Martin Luther King Day against the young Laker squad that embarrassed them at Oracle on Christmas Day. Here we discuss the odds and analysis from a betting perspective.

When: Monday January 21st, 2019 at 7:30pm PST.

Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California

Line: Warriors -10.5, total is at 235

Injuries: Lonzo Ball (ankle), LeBron James (groin) and Rajon Rondo (finger) are out for the Lakers.

Damian Jones (pectoral) is out for the Warriors.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers fell to 25-22 following a 138-134 overtime loss at the Houston Rockets in a game the Lakers led for most of regulation, one game after an impressive road win at the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Los Angeles is led by LeBron James with 27.3 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game and 7.1 assists per game.

The Lakers are scoring 112.4 points per game (13th of 30), allowing 111.4 points per game (16th of 30), earning a simple rating system (SRS) score of 0.83 (15th of 30), pace factor of 102.9 (3rd of 30), offensive rating of 108.5 (21st of 30) and defensive rating of 107.5 (6th of 30).

LA is 21-25 against the spread (ATS), 17-29-1 to the over/under, 1-3 ATS as a home underdog, 10-13-1 ATS as the home team, 6-17-1 to the over/under as the home team, 7-14 to the over/under after a loss and and 1-2-1 to the over/under as a home underdog this season.

Golden State Warriors

DeMarcus Cousins’ play was solid in his debut and he clearly energized the Warriors and their team play in their 112-94 victory against the Los Angeles Clippers, helping the team move to 32-14 on the season.

Golden State is led by Stephen Curry who is scoring 29.8 points per game and whose MVP-caliber play is fueling the Dubs’ seven game winning streak. Kevin Durant leads his team with 7.4 rebounds per game and 6.0 assists per game.

The Warriors are scoring 118.5 points per game (1st of 30), allowing 111.9 points per game (19th of 30), earning a SRS score of 6.27 (2nd of 30), pace factor of 100.4 (10th of 30), offensive rating of 116.9 (1st of 30) and defensive rating of 110.5 (16th of 30).

The Dubs are 20-25-1 ATS, 25-21 to the over/under, 15-15-1 ATS after a win, 8-10 ATS as an away favorite, 5-6 ATS after 2-3 days off, 13-5 to the over/under as an away favorite, 14-8 to the over/under as the away team, 19-12 to the over/under after a win and 6-5 to the over/under after 2-3 days off this season.

The Lakers beat the Warriors for the first time in eight games and did so in convincing fashion at Oracle, and have now covered four of the last five contests between these teams.

But the Warriors seem to be on a road revenge tour, avenging earlier losses in Dallas, Denver and at the Clippers and we don’t seem them letting up at all against a young Lakers team that made them look really bad on Christmas.

The Lakers will be playing on one day rest after two straight overtime games on the road and the Warriors got to stay in LA after their game on Friday, giving Golden State the advantage in terms of being rested and making it difficult to bet against the Dubs in this spot.

As long as the LA nightlife doesn’t take too much out of the Warriors, we see the Lonzo-less Lakers being primed for a letdown after their overtime collapse in Houston, and the Dubs winning the game, and can only lay the 10.5 if we play.
