Will Warriors stay hot and cover 9-points in Washington against the Wizards?

Golden State’s potent offense and eight game win streak travel to the nation’s capital to face the Wizards.

The Golden State Warriors are making the NBA unfair again with their incendiary shooting, smooth ball movement, improving defense and so-far successful integration of DeMarcus Cousins into the line up, and it has resulted in an eight game win streak and covering the number in five of their last seven contests.

Now they embark on a challenging east coast road trip that begins with the Washington Wizards in D.C. on Thursday. Here we discuss the odds and analysis from a betting perspective.

When: Thursday January 24th, 2019 at 5:00pm PST

Where: Capital One Arena, Washington D.C.

Line: Warriors -9, total is at 235

Injuries: Markieff Morris (back), John Wall (heel) and Dwight Howard (back) are out for the Wizards.

Damian Jones (pectoral) is out for the Warriors.

Washington Wizards

Washington moved to 20-26 on the season after beating the Detroit Pistons 101-87 on MLK Day and have now won four of five.

The Wizards are led by Bradley Beal with 24.7 points and 5.0 assists per game and Otto Porter Jr. with 5.7 rebounds per game.

Washington is scoring 113.0 points per game (9th of 30), allowing 115.8 points per game (29th of 30), earning a simple rating system (SRS) score of -3.43 (24th of 30), pace factor of 100.8 (8th of 30), offensive rating of 110.0 (17th of 30) and defensive rating of 112.8 (25th of 30).

The Wizards are 20-26 against the spread (ATS), 25-20-1 to the over/under, 6-2 ATS as home underdogs, 14-8 ATS as the home team, 2-7 ATS with 2-3 days off, 7-1 to the over/under as a home underdog, 16-8 to the over/under as an underdog and 14-8 to the over/under as the home team this season.

Golden State Warriors

Golden State moved to 33-14 following their 130-111 throttling of a short-handed Los Angeles Lakers team on MLK Day.

The Warriors are led by Stephen Curry with 29.3 points per game and Draymond Green with 7.7 rebounds per game and 7.3 assists per game.

The Warriors are scoring 118.7 points per game (1st of 30), allowing 111.9 points per game (22nd of 30), earning a SRS score of 6.51 (2nd of 30), pace factor of 100.5 (10th of 30), offensive rating of 117.1 (1st of 30) and defensive rating of 110.4 (15th of 30).

The Dubs are 21-25-1 ATS, 26-21 to the over/under, 16-15-1 ATS after a win, 9-10 ATS as an away favorite, 6-6 ATS after 2-3 days off, 14-5 to the over/under as an away favorite, 15-8 to the over/under as the away team, 20-12 to the over/under after a win and 7-5 to the over/under after 2-3 days off this season.

It may or may not come as a surprise to some, but the Wizards have been playing better basketball without John Wall, especially at home where the Wizards have covered the spread the last two times they played the Warriors in D.C.

But successful wagering on basketball and sports is often facilitated by teams on streaks, and with the way the Warriors are playing right now with offensive potency that seems to be increasing in efficiency with the addition of DeMarcus Cousins, taken together with the Wizards poor defense, we can only consider laying the nine with the Dubs and leaning toward the over.
