Warriors vs. Wizards: DeMarcus Cousins to wear shoes in support of criminal justice reform

The Warriors will face the Wizards tonight and DeMarcus Cousins will be sporting some brand new kicks.

The Golden State Warriors will face the Washington Wizards tonight at 5 p.m. PST on TNT.

Since it seems likely that the Warriors will be able to keep their eight-game winning streak alive against the 20-26 Wizards, what might be more interesting is the further integration of center DeMarcus Cousins, who is still acclimating to his new team.

And while we’re all focused on Cousins tonight, we might want to have a look at his new shoes, which he will reportedly be wearing in support of Meek Mill’s criminal justice reform efforts, according to TMZ.

Everything about the shoe has a special meaning. The black coloring represents the American prison system. The red symbolizes the blood and sacrifice of those who have fought for justice. Gold stands for future victories.

There’s also a quote on the heel from Olympic legend/social activist Tommie Smith which says, “We had to be seen because we couldn’t be heard.”

You’ll have to head over to see the full article to check out the image, but I’m loving the statement.
