Russell, Green, James, and Davis to rest tonight

Steph Curry will be the lone star when the Warriors and Lakers face off in their preseason contest.

There will be a lot of stars in the building tonight when the Golden State Warriors take on the Los Angeles Lakers. But there won’t be a lot of stars on the basketball court.

Steph Curry is playing for the Warriors in their third of five preseason games. But fellow All-Stars Draymond Green and D’Angelo Russell are getting some rest, and won’t suit up.

Editor’s note: Wes Goldberg, a tremendous reporter, has replaced Mark Medina as the Warriors beat reporter at The Mercury News. So you’ll be seeing some tweets from a new face this year, but he’s trustworthy and reputable.

Even with Curry - who will rest for Wednesday’s penultimate preseason game - out, the Warriors are hilariously thin when Green and Russell sit.

But they’ll be going up against an equally thin team, as the Lakers are resting both LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The Warriors and Lakers not only play each other tonight and on Wednesday, but on Friday, too. There’s a good chance that game - the final preseason contest for both teams - will feature a bit more star power than this one will.
