Willie Cauley-Stein is back. Err, he’s . . . can you be back if you were never there to begin with?

After missing five preseason games and three regular season games, Cauley-Stein is making his Golden State Warriors debut against the Phoenix Suns.

And to say he’s excited would be an understatement. Quite an understatement. Before Wednesday’s game, Cauley-Stein told reporters just how stoked he is to be back on the court, and playing for the defending Western Conference champs.

“I can’t wait to suit up,” the fifth-year center said, and it’s safe to say that those words excite Warriors fans nearly as much as the notion of playing excites Cauley-Stein. Golden State is ready to see some lobs leave the fingertips of Steph Curry, D’Angelo Russell, and Draymond Green, only to be emphatically slammed through the cylinder by the hyper-athletic Cauley-Stein.

The Warriors haven’t gotten much from the center spot, as Kevon Looney exited the season opener, leaving Marquese Chriss as the only true center on the option. So the team is also thrilled to have Cauley-Stein suiting up.

They’re excited. You’re excited. He’s excited.

Welcome, Willie.
