What a special night for the Warriors All-Star.

On Monday night, Golden State Warriors All-Star Draymond Green had his jersey retired by Michigan State University.

Surrounded by many family members - and with Klay Thompson, Steve Kerr, D’Angelo Russell, Joe Lacob, Bob Myers, and Zaza Pachulia in attendance - Green had his #23 jersey lifted to the rafters, where it sits next to a few legendary basketball names, including Magic Johnson.

It was a beautiful and emotional ceremony, with Michigan State putting together a tremendous highlights package, and Green addressing the crowd. The NBA Defensive Player of the Year got a little emotional, quite understandably, while thanking his family, the Warriors, the Spartans fanbase, and the players and coaches he shared four years in East Lansing with.

It’s well worth watching, so check out the video:

That’s quite an honor and celebration for a Michigan-raised basketball player whose dream was always to play at Michigan State.

The 11th-ranked Spartans dropped the game to the 10th-ranked Duke Blue Devils, but it was surely a night Green will never forget. And some good practice, too, as it’s not the last jersey he’ll have retired.
