Warriors vs. Blazers: Kevon Looney starting, Andre Iguodala out

In addition to DeMarcus Cousins and Shaun Livingston, the Warriors will be resting Andre Iguodala tonight. With veterans resting, players like Kevon Looney will get more time to shine tonight.

The Golden State Warriors will face the Portland Trail Blazers tonight in their last game before the 2019 NBA All-Star break.

As detailed in our preview of the game, veterans DeMarcus Cousins and Shaun Livingston will be out for tonight’s game on account of the need to rest. However, this evening, Warriors coach Steve Kerr announced that veteran wingman Andre Iguodala will also be out for tonight’s game due to load management rest, as reported by radio man Tim Roye (among others).

As Duby Dub Dubs wrote in the preview, missing these vets on the back end of a back-to-back set against a playoff opponent like Portland will make “...a challenging game tougher...” than it might otherwise be.

Nevertheless, the upside — depending on how optimistic your worldview skews — is that we get to see Kevon Looney back in the starting lineup in place of Cousins tonight.

Feel free to discuss your thoughts on the matchup, lineups with the veterans out, or observations of the game as it happens in the comments below.
