Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been fined $25,000 for his outburst during Wednesday night’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. The league announced the penalty on Thursday afternoon.

It wasn’t a question of whether or not Kerr would be fined for his actions, but rather a question of how much he would be fined. The severity of his actions - which resulted in a swift ejection - made it clear that he would be reprimanded by the league.
Kerr was ejected following a flagrant foul call on Draymond Green. While Green was initially called for a shooting foul, Kenny Mauer and the refereeing crew reviewed the play and changed the call to a flagrant foul, which seemed like quite a stretch.
The Warriors coach was hearing none of it, and wanted to protect Green from earning detrimental reputation calls. His outburst was rather impressive, and ultimately Kevin Durant had to hold him back.

While Kerr will likely show remorse for exploding - he has in the past - I’m sure his players, and Green in particular, appreciate him having their back. That’s well worth the $25,000.
