Video Analysis

Klay Thompson and newcomer DeMarcus Cousins have developed early chemistry.

Did you realize that looking at lineup data from stats.nba.com...

Yes, that’s a small sample size, but it’s pointing in the right direction and impressive since they are usually playing together anchoring the bench unit at the starts of Q2 and Q4 while Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant rest.

Bonus Thoughts

Remember how long it took to properly name these endless team-exit sagas?

  • Dwightmare
  • Melodrama
  • Browxit

We need to start working in advance. Here’s my contribution.

  • K Diva
  • Bye-rie
  • Klay Goneson or Splash Druthers
  • Klawsta La Vista

You’re welcome.

On KD. I think a lot about Richard Cramer’s famous lines about Ted Williams.

”He wanted fame, and wanted it with a pure, hot eagerness.... But he could not stand celebrity. This is a bitch of a line to draw in America’s dust.”

All-Star Thoughts

Back in the days when the NBA was the distant #3 sport and barely got live TV, the All-Star Game was an important show for the league. Those days are long gone.

All-NBA is the important team that people should fight over. All-Star should be voted entirely by fans for just who they want to see hot dog it, not the “best” players.

So maybe go to a big bracket of 1-v-1 or 3-v-3 to 21. Something shorter that approximates the last 90 seconds of close All-Star Games where people care.

If no one wants to get hurt (understandably) then the game is almost logically required to suck.

The game is so stupendously boring that I’ve barely watched it since... Steph’s MVP 2.0 year. And when it became clear he wasn’t going to try to take over and hoist shots, that was boring too.
