Today is Steph Curry’s birthday. The Golden State Warriors superstar is now 31, which is kind of hard to believe, but here we are.
He acknowledged his special day on social media, with a picture of fellow great shooter Reggie Miller, whose jersey number was 31.
At 31, Curry still has a lot of tread left on his tires, especially since he played three years of college basketball. Yet at the same time, what he’s accomplished at this point in his career is stunning, even with many more years ahead of him.
Here are some of Curry’s myriad accomplishments:
3-time NBA champion
2-time NBA MVP
6-time All-Star
5-time All-NBA selection
2015-16 scoring champion
Third all-time in three-pointers made
Fifth all-time in three-point shooting percentage
First all-time in free throw shooting percentage
First, second, fourth, and fifth-most threes made in a single season
If you want to really celebrate Curry’s 31st, check out Kerith Burke’s interview with the superstar, in which he calls the last year of his life “legendary”.
Curry also delivered this incredible quote in the interview:
“I know that time is always ticking in the game of basketball. I want to win as much as I can for as long as I can, and do it with teammates that value it as much as I do.
“At the end of the day, I never want to get to a place of complacency where the accomplishments we’ve had take the edge (away). That’s a constant battle.”
Happy birthday, Steph. Thanks for turning a laughing stock franchise into one of the greatest dynasties in NBA history.
