Durant sprained his ankle during Sunday’s loss to the Phoenix Suns, and sat out of Wednesday’s game against the Houston Rockets. He went through a full practice yesterday, which suggests that there’s nothing to worry about with the injury - the Warriors are just proceeding with extreme caution.
That’s the smart thing to do, as the Warriors only have 15 games left in the season. Making sure their stars are healthy going into the playoffs is much more important than winning a game in March, even if Durant would love the opportunity to face off against his former team.
This will be just the third game all season that Durant has missed. We’ll likely see him back on Monday, when the Warriors will be in Texas to take on the San Antonio Spurs.
Golden State and Oklahoma City tip off tonight at 5:30 p.m. PT on ABC.
