Golden State will try to stop a two game slide and clap back at the Philadelphia Sixers for the Sixers’ win at Oracle earlier this year.
Here we discuss the odds and analysis from a betting perspective.
When: Saturday March 2 2019 at 5:30pm PST
Where: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Line: Warriors -5, o/u 237
Injuries: Shake Milton (finger), Joel Embiid (knee), Boban Marjanovic (knee), Furkan Korkmaz (knee), Zhaire Smith (foot) and Justin Patton (foot) are out for the Sixers.
Andre Iguodala (illness) is probable, Kevon Looney (pelvis) is questionable, Klay Thompson (knee) is questionable and Damian Jones (pectoral) is out for the Warriors.
Philadelphia moved to 40-22 with a 108-104 win at Oklahoma City on Thursday and have won four of their last five.
The Sixers are led by Joel Embiid with 27.3 points and 13.5 rebounds per game and Ben Simmons with 7.8 assists per game.
Philly is scoring 115.5 points per game (5th of 30), allowing 112.1 points per game (18th of 30), earning a simple rating system (SRS) score of 3.07 (10th of 30), pace factor of 101.8 (7th of 30), offensive rating of 112.5 (9th of 30) and defensive rating of 109.2 (12th of 30).
The Sixers are 29-33 against the spread, 31-31 to the over/under, 16-16 ATS as the home team, 8-9 ATS as an underdog, 18-17 ATS after a day off, 19-16 to the over/under after a day off, 17-15 to the over/under as the home team and 20-19 to the over/under after a win.
Golden State Warriors
Golden State fell to 43-19 after their 103-96 loss at the Orlando Magic and have now lost three of their last four.
The Warriors are led by Stephen Curry scoring 28.4 points per game and Draymond Green with 7.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game.
Golden State is scoring 118.6 points per game (1st of 30), allowing 112.0 points per game (17th of 30), earning a SRS score of 6.39 (2nd of 30), pace factor of 101.0 (10th of 30), offensive rating of 116.6 (1st of 30) and defensive rating of 110.2 (16th of 30).
The Warriors are 25-36-1 ATS, 33-29 to the over/under, 14-17 ATS as the away team, 6-12 ATS after a loss, 4-9-1 ATS when spread was -7.5 to -4.5, 11-16 ATS against teams that win >55 percent of games, 18-9 to the over/under as an away favorite, 19-12 to the over/under as an away team and 7-11 to the over/under after a loss this season.
During the part of the season after the All-Star break and before the playoffs, while the Warriors continue to focus on optimizing their health in anticipation of a long post-season run, we would advise against betting on the Warriors ATS and would not be surprised if blindly betting against the Warriors ATS in every game during this part of the season turns a profit.
The fact that Philadelphia has covered the number in seven of the last eight contests between these teams also does not inspire confidence in taking the Warriors here, so that would leave either taking the Sixers ATS or considering the total.
Coming off of two straight losses and motivated by revenge and getting a rested Kevin Durant back, we expect the Dubs to come out firing and for KD to have a big game. Though the Sixers will miss Joel Embiid’s scoring, we expect Tobias Harris, Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler to get up for this game to prove their earlier win against the Dubs was not a fluke, and lean toward over 237 in this contest.
