Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant is a rather fascinating person. And that’s on full display in a recent video of him touring San Francisco, and talking candidly about life.

The video, which was created by Uninterrupted and Durant’s Thirty Five Ventures, in partnership with Alaska Airlines, features Durant driving around San Francisco, checking out two iconic locations: Mister Jiu’s Chinese restaurant, and Hyde Street Studios.

Durant is joined by teammate and longtime friend Quinn Cook, and talks about what drives him and what he loves. It’s well worth checking out.

Perhaps the best moment comes when Durant waxes poetic about the culture of the Bay Area.

“I was watching this Janis Joplin documentary last year, and it was telling me how rock and roll and just the hippie movement kind of started here, right in San Francisco,” Durant said. “And I was just like, man. To know that much culture and history is in the same city that I’m actually playing and living in, that made me feel real proud to be a part of this community.”

The two-time Finals MVP also shared his philosophy on growth, and placing yourself around people who bring something to the table.

“If I want to do anything, I just got to see like what group of people are gonna be here,” the 10-time All-Star said. “‘Cause I might meet somebody that I can learn something from, or meet someone that I can be friends with for the rest of my life. We should take advantage of those opportunities to get to know each other, get to know where we come from, and just see a different perspective. I think that’s key in life.”

The video is a refreshing reminder of what the Warriors fanbase has in Durant, an all-time great player who is both fascinating and caring off the court. All the talk lately has been about Durant’s future, and speculation about him leaving, but it’s good to remember that right now we get to experience a legendary player, in his prime, who actively loves the community he partakes in and gives back to.

That’s special.
