Hours before the Golden State Warriors defended their homecourt against the playoff bound Indiana Pacers, news broke that one of Kevin Durant’s dearest friends was murdered outside of his own birthday party.
The Durant family extends our deepest condolences & prayers to Cliff’s mother, siblings, family & friends. Our family was an extension of his & we shared wonderful memories. His transition is an incredible loss for all of us who loved him, he will be missed dearly #CliffDixon RIP pic.twitter.com/QuIRt0hIIu— Wanda Durant (@MamaDurant) March 21, 2019
With such a devastating familial loss, it’d be understandable if Durant wanted nothing to do with the cameras and crowds in Oracle Arena last night. Instead, during his time of grief, Durant took the floor with his basketball brothers and put on a hoops clinic.
He was hyper efficient in shooting from the field, going 6-of-9 and tallying up 15 points. He also chipped in six assists. But most importantly, his defensive effort keyed the Warriors into a feeding frenzy, as he delivered three emphatic blocks and a steal.
At the same time, I wouldn’t be mad if you voted for another All-Star hooper.
DeMarcus Cousins got loose on Indiana again, this time leading the Dubs in points (19) and rebounds (11) as he rumbled over, by, and through the defense.

And Andre Iguodala was a disruptive force, grabbing two steals and scoring 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field. He even revealed his secret to staying so fresh after the game with Kerith Burke.
