Stephen Curry, Andrew Bogut, and Shaun Livingston will rest tomorrow against the Mavericks, per the NBA’s injury report.— Dieter Kurtenbach (@dkurtenbach) March 22, 2019
With no discernible reason for the players to take the game off, other than some important rest down the stretch, we may see the infamous “Load Management” explanation tomorrow.
The rest is very well-deserved for Curry. Since missing 11 games in November due to an injury, the two-time MVP has played in 48 consecutive games. Curry has, by his ridiculous standards, struggled a little bit since the All-Star break, so perhaps the time off will help him out.
It’s also some well-deserved rest for Bogut. The seven-foot center flew from Australia to the Bay Area on Saturday, and wasn’t supposed to make his season debut until last night. But when DeMarcus Cousins suffered a small injury, Bogut hopped back on a plane and met the Warriors on the road.
He started in back-to-back games on Monday and Tuesday, and played last night against the Indiana Pacers. Bogut certainly deserves a night off to get caught up.
Still, it’s a little sad that they’re resting tomorrow, with the Mavs in town. Not only does that mean the exciting Luka Doncic will be at Oracle Arena, but it may be the final chance for Curry, Bogut, and Livingston to play Dirk Nowitzki, who may retire at the end of the season.
The Warriors and Mavericks play Saturday at 5:30 p.m. PT on NBC Sports Bay Area.
