It’s the first time since January 29, 1971, when the then San Francisco Warriors beat the Buffalo Braves, that an NBA game will be played in San Francisco.
Of course, the real excitement will come a few weeks later, when the Warriors play their first regular season game at Chase Center. If they have it their way, that game will not only be the unveiling of the new arena, but the raising of a new banner, and the doling out of some new championship rings.
But that’s getting a little ahead of ourselves. For now, it’s just exciting to know that we have a date for NBA basketball in San Francisco.
Let’s not get too excited, though. There’s still some incredible basketball to watch in Oakland.
