The Golden State Warriors are in a position they did not foresee being in: Needing a Game 6 in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs. After losing 129-121 on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Dubs must now go back on the road to try and close out the series.
After Wednesday’s surprising loss - their second consecutive defeat at home - Klay Thompson admitted that he may have looked ahead to a second round matchup against the Houston Rockets.
Frustrated with his performance, Thompson then said he’s ready to put the game behind him, and doesn’t want to just win on Friday at Staples Center - he wants to win big.

“Just go do what we do,” a visibly disappointed Thompson said during his post-game media session. “Build from this game - this game sucked, we lost. Let’s go win. Let’s win big. Freaking win by 30, like we’re capable of.”
A 30-point win would be something of a statement game from the Warriors, who are suddenly being talked about as vulnerable, rather than the heavy favorites they’ve been for the bulk of the last four years.
We’ll find out soon enough if Thompson’s wish comes true. The Warriors and Clippers tip off on Friday at 7:00 p.m. PT on ESPN.
