It’s a pretty fitting opponent, considering that the Warriors swept the Cavs in the 2018 NBA Finals.
The team has been meaning to give Young his ring for a while, but it hasn’t worked out. They opted not to bring him in for the opening night celebration, since he was an active free agent looking for a team.
Young eventually signed with the Denver Nuggets to help out an injured squad, but appeared in just four games. Once the Nuggets regained health, Young was cut, well before Denver made a trip to Oakland.
The Warriors put off the ceremony a little bit longer, in case Young signed with another team. Now, with the season ending in just over a week, it appears that Young will not join any team this year, so it’s time to welcome him back to Oracle Arena for a diamond-filled celebration.
In Young’s one season with the Dubs he averaged 7.3 points per game while shooting 37.7% from the three-point line.
