The Golden State Warriors so-called ‘magic number’ is down to two. So any combination of Warriors’ wins or Nuggets’ losses will clinch the top seed in the West and allow Golden State to comfortably coast across the finish line with about one week to go before the playoffs start.
Both teams are on the tail end of a back-to-back, but no indications yet from coach Steve Kerr about who will be resting - my guess is DeMarcus Cousins will not play.
So while tonight’s game is somewhat important to the team’s goals, this evening is made more special by the auspicious occurrence of our GSOM Night. I’m bringing the whole family this year to send Oracle off with a smile.

Easing across the finish line
The Golden State absolutely waxed the Los Angeles Lakers last night, allowing all of our stars to play less than 30 minutes in the easy win. We held back a bevvy of players last night, and coach Steve Kerr has implied that this will be the pattern over the remaining four games. From the interview quips after last night’s game, it sounds like the Warriors will come into this one with a mostly full roster (other than DeMarcus Cousins - who the team has previously indicated will not appear in any back-to-back games this season); and then rest hard during next week’s short road trip.
Steve Kerr wants to get the main guys at least one night of rest during that back-to-back to close the season next week. Wants to clinch homecourt first though. pic.twitter.com/M2ezpAgD3x— Anthony Slater (@anthonyVslater) April 5, 2019
It’s GSOM Night! Get hyped!!!
It’s going to be a bittersweet evening tonight as we gather for our last GSOM Night in the gilded confines of Oracle Arena. By now, everyone should have personally received an email from super support guy, Anthony Nutting, with all the prerequisite details for the event. Remember, you’ll have to pick up your packets at Will Call, so plan to get their a little earlier than usual as the lines can get long right before the games.
Just in case you need it again, here are the salient details, remember that you can save five bucks on parking by pre-purchasing online.
All orders can be picked up at Will Call starting at 5:30 the night of the game under your last name. Each envelope will include game tickets, a $10 concession voucher (good for food or beverage), free throw vouchers and giveaway vouchers. The only person that can pick up the order is the person that purchased the tickets. Please make sure to bring your I.D. to the game.
T-Shirt Pick Up
All GSoM Shirts can be picked up at Section 214 starting when doors open at 6 and will go until the end of halftime. Shirts sizes will be S-XL (unisex, preshrunk); sizes will run out. We are also hosting Bollywood Night and the t-shirt pick up location is the same for both groups. T-Shirts will not be given out unless the voucher is provided.
Post Game Free Throws
After the win (speak it into existence), head to Section 215 to line up and get ready to take one free throw on the court. No beverages are allowed on the court so make sure to drink up before we head down. After you shoot your free throw, please exit the court so we can make this as swift as possible.
This is a weird theme to our back-to-back: we are facing two teams that have been directly/indirectly decimated by LeBron James. The Cleveland Cavaliers are not in a great place in the wake of his departure. Tons of money locked up with the likes of JR SMith, Tristan Thompson, and Jordan Clarkson just doesn’t bode well for a team’s success.
At 19-60 the Cavaliers have been one of the very worst teams in the league this year, and that doesn’t seem likely to change as they roll into a fired up Golden State Warriors team that is clicking.
