The last time I went to a playoff game was Game 5 between the Warriors and Pelicans last season in Oracle. The Warriors cruised to a 113-104 victory, and eliminated Anthony Davis out of the postseason for the second time during the Splash Bros-era.
I was with Duby Dub Dubs and Nate P. at the time, and as we jubilantly marched out towards the BART parking lot we had a lot of praise for the Pelicans.
“Dude, when they get Boogie Cousins back next year they are gonna be a problem!”
“Jrue Holiday and Rajon Rondo are a strong backcourt!”
“Man, Anthony Davis is a freak of nature!”
Fast forward to current day. DeMarcus Cousins made his comeback as a Warrior. Rondo went to the Lakers in free agency. Davis demanded a trade this season that destroyed any hope for New Orleans. The Pelicans fired their general manager Dell Demps and didn’t move Davis at the deadline.
Their franchise is in shambles and will miss the playoffs by a wide margin. Anybody wondering if Davis will reconcile with New Orleans and/or play tonight should enjoy this next tweet immensely.

Sheesh, that’s messy.
Meanwhile the Golden State Warriors have clinched the #1 seed and homecourt advantage throughout the Western conference playoffs. Ho hum, just another year of excellence for the Golden Empire.
As such, they have the luxury of keeping out a few of their heavy hitters for tonight’s contest.
Injury update for tonight's game at New Orleans: Andrew Bogut (rest), Kevin Durant (flu), Andre Iguodala (left toe soreness), Damian Jones (left pectoral surgery) and Klay Thompson (right knee soreness) are out.

Here’s hoping nobody gets injured in this meaningless exhibition. Tick tock, the playoffs are around the corner!
