Warriors vs. Rockets, Game 4: How worried are you about Steph Curry?

The Warriors will face the Rockets in Game 4 of the second round with questions about how to negotiate the use of Steph Curry and Kevin Durant.

Thus far in the Golden State Warriors’ second round series with the Houston Rockets, Steph Curry has been less than stellar.

Since he is adult enough to not default to the built-in dislocated finger excuse that many would accept, he’s receiving quite a bit of scrutiny for his statistical output thus far: arguably the greatest shooter of all-time, he’s shooting 35.3% from the field overall and just 25% from the 3-point line, as you can see from the Basketball-Reference table below.

Hamptons 5 stats so far in the second round.

Bomani Jones discussed the situation on his show High Noon with Pablo Torre, noting the effect that Kevin Durant might have had on not only Curry’s performance but also the performance of players like Klay Thompson.

Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Curry came out tonight and dropped 40 on Houston and left everyone doubting him having to eat their words. Yes, that’s very much what any fan wants for player on their favorite team who is struggling. But somehow, this situation has helped me come to the realization that I’m a bigger Steph stan than I ever imagined — I feel myself getting irrationally defensive about a player who’s legitimately struggling in the context of this series, but has proven time and again that he’s capable of extraordinary things.

Anyway, after watching the Warriors take the Rockets to overtime while playing horribly, I’m hoping for a slightly better road performance that will carry them to a 3-1 victory.

I’m sure that will end all the slander because what jokes or memes could one possibly come up with about a team that’s up 3-1 on an opponent that in a series?
