Warriors trade Andre Iguodala to make room for Nets’ D’Angelo Russell

WOW. What a day.

NBA: Golden State Warriors at Brooklyn Nets Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors are finalizing Kevin Durant’s exit to the Brooklyn Nets, and reports are coming in that the deal is going to include receiving budding young point guard D’Angelo Russell in return.

But with great grief I report that Warriors legend Andre Iguodala is going to be shipped off to the Memphis Grizzlies to clear space. This is wild.

Russell averaged 21.1 PPG and on 43% shooting from the field, 36% from beyond the arc, so clearly he’s no scrub. He’s also 23 years old and playing with a chip on his shoulder after a drama filled exit from the Los Angeles Lakers a couple years ago.

But man...losing Iguodala is almost too much for me to process right now. Durant’s exist created a series of unfortunate events that now force the dynasty to rebuild on the fly. We knew this would be possible at some point, but to see it now? It hurts as a fan of the team, but kudos to the front office for working overtime to make something happen.

Let’s see what happens next...more coverage to come!
