Warriors reportedly sign Ky Bowman to a two-way contract

The Golden State Warriors have officially signed undrafted rookie guard Ky Bowman to a two-way contract. The news comes from Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Charania reporting the news suggests that the Warriors have made the contract official. However, it’s been clear that Bowman would be joining the team on a two-way contract for quite some time now.

Warriors assistant general manager Larry Harris revealed during a radio spot more than three weeks ago that the Warriors had signed Bowman to a two-way contract. And Bob Myers, when talking about the Warriors roster construction a week or so ago, said that the team had one two-way spot remaining before their roster was complete.

Translation: This isn’t new news. But given the report, it may be that the contract is only now being signed.

Bowman was a standout at Boston College, and was projected by many to be picked in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft. But he essentially asked teams not to draft him, because he didn’t want to get stuck on a two-way contract; instead, the point guard hoped to earn a guaranteed contract somewhere.

That obviously didn’t happen, and the Warriors will be happy to get the talented young player into their system.

Bowman struggled in four Las Vegas Summer League games, averaging just 2.3 points and 2.0 assists per game, while shooting 4-for-18 from the field in 15 minutes per contest. But he flashed some strong instincts and athleticism.
