It’s been two days since the NBA world was shook by the tragic death of Kobe Bryant. We’ve had a little coverage here, as Joe wrote about Kobe from a Warriors fan’s perspective, and I talked about Bryant’s legacy. If you want more tributes to him, I recommend visiting our sister site, Silver Screen and Roll.
But this space isn’t about our words. It’s about the words of the Golden State Warriors.
Everyone in the Warriors organization was connected to Kobe, through one avenue or another. He was D’Angelo Russell’s teammate in Russell’s rookie year. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green had the special brotherhood with Kobe that seemingly every NBA star had. The youngsters looked up to him as kids, college players, and young pros.
Here are their tributes to Kobe, in their words, starting with 8 and 24-second violations that the Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers took to start their game on Tuesday.
A moment to remember a legend.
