D’Angelo Russell questionable vs. Wizards

A quad contusion could keep the Warriors point guard out of Monday’s game.

D’Angelo Russell is questionable for tonight’s game between the Golden State Warriors and the Washington Wizards. The Warriors point guard is dealing with a contusion in his right quad, and could miss the action.

The Warriors announced the news at Monday morning’s shootaround.

Russell sustained the contusion during Saturday’s rare blowout victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. He had 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists in the game, which was just the second win by the Warriors in 2020.

If the 23-year old former All-Star has to miss the Wizards game, it will hardly be his first time sidelined. Russell missed three games near the start of the season due to a finger injury, then later missed nine games with a sprained ankle. A shoulder contusion then cost him six games spanning December and January.

In all, Russell has missed 18 of the Warriors 50 games so far this year.

But he’s been strong in the games he has played in, averaging 23.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game, while shooting 38.3% from beyond the arc.
