Are you a basketball fanatic doing your part as a concerned citizen during a pandemic by staying inside? And are you going crazy from boredom?

The NBA 2K League has just the competitive distraction you’re yearning for.

The Golden State Warriors official 2K team, Warriors Gaming Squad, has announced their entry into the inaugural “NBA 2KL Three for All Showdown,” a virtual hoops extravaganza that features an online 3v3 tournament made up of:

  • fan-organized teams
  • top female 2K players
  • social media influencers
  • a share of a $25,000 prize pool
  • And me, Daniel Hardee

That’s right folks, after hearing this news come down the wire I have purchased NBA 2K20 and will be putting in some practice time during quarantine. I duel via PS4, but XBox users can totally get in on this too.

Here’s the official word on the tournament:

The tournament will be broken down into two stages, the first of which will take place March 27-29 and will feature 32 fan-organized teams competing against each other in distinct PlayStation 4 and Xbox brackets. Fans can sign up for the NBA 2KL Three for All Showdown fan bracket throughout the week of March 23 at NBA2KLeague.com.

The second stage of the tournament, which will take place March 31-April 3, will feature NBA 2K League players, top female 2K players, social media influencers and the top performing teams from the fan-only stage competing against each other in distinct PlayStation 4 and Xbox brackets. Alex “Bsmoove” Reese, Jin “Jin Choe and Matt “Matty” Grant will be representing Warriors Gaming Squad in the PlayStation 4 bracket while Charlie “CB13” Bostwick, Sam “Gradient” Salyers and Malik “Slaughter” Leisinger will be competing in the Xbox bracket.

All series aside from the final rounds of each bracket will be best-of-three game series with the final round matchups being best-of-five game series.

Now after personally spending some time with these video game assassins last summer I can promise you that they’re no joke. These new age gladiators should be classified as weapons of mass destruction the instant a controller touches their hands. If you decide to enter into this tournament, I wish you luck.

Fans can watch the NBA 2KL Three for All Tournament on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.

In the meantime, I need to figure out how to activate Steph Curry’s stepback three animation so I can win this money. Help me train by adding me on PS4 @ “TheBlackTruth”!
