What was your first Warriors jersey?

Hopefully it’s better than mine.

This week at SB Nation we’re doing Jersey Theme Week, which is pretty great. The coronavirus has taken live sports from us, but jerseys are a way for us to rep our fandom 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

We wear our NBA jerseys in the summer, to remind us of our team, even when they’re in the offseason. We wear those jerseys during the lottery pick years, to remind everyone that we’re real fans through thick and thin. We wear them for fashion, for comfort, for pride, and because they make us happy.

I’ve found that I’m wearing sports memorabilia even more since the sports seasons got suspended. With no sports on the TV to comfort me, the shirts and hats are all I’ve got. I’m clinging to them.

That said, my closet currently doesn’t have any jerseys, and I feel like I should change that. I’ve been eyeing this Steph Curry rookie year jersey, which is absolutely perfect. You can’t disagree with that. You just can’t.

As for my first Warriors jersey? Well it was a throwback Mike Dunleavy Jr. jersey that was five sizes too big, which I got for $9 after he was traded.

Yikes.

I decided to podcast about it, because that’s therapy for such a sore subject.

As always, you can listen in the embedded podcast player above, or on Spotify, iTunes, Stitcher, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Now, your turn: What was your first Warriors jersey? And what’s the jersey you’re currently itching to get your hands on?
