The Bay Area has been home to many stars from across the sports world. From Wilt Chamberlin to Barry Bonds, to Steph Curry, many of the athletes who had donned a uniform for a Bay Area team have been at the top of their leagues.
Steve Berman of The Athletic made an interesting list, picking the best players across all sports to wear each uniform number from 00 to 100 for one of the Bay Area teams, and seven of them are Warriors.
Here are which of the Dubs, past and present, that made the cut:
11. Klay Thompson
13. Wilt Chamberlin
17. Chris Mullin
20. Phil Smith
23. Draymond Green
30. Stephen Curry
35. Kevin Durant
I don’t there is an argument to be made against any of the above listed players.
Berman did give an honorable mention to a few Warriors from different uniform numbers, including:
5. Berman went with Christian McCaffrey (hard to knock), but gave Baron David an HM
8. Steve Young (sorry Monta Ellis, this was an easy choice)
9. Reggie Jackson. (Andre Iguodala HM)
10. Jennifer Azzi. (Tim Hardaway HM)
15. Tom Flores (Latrell Spreewell HM)
23. Green. (Jason Richardson HM)
33. Roger Craig. (Antawn Jamison HM)
34. Rollie Fingers. (Shaun Livington HM)
One omission I noticed was for No. 23, Mitch Richmond would have made my list as an honorable mention.
Do you think Berman got it right? If not, how would your list differ?
