I hope all of you are staying safe and healthy on this Memorial Day long weekend.

With all of the rumors about a potential NBA return coming soon, I figured this would be a good time to reflect on what made you a Golden State Warriors fan.

Our community is very diverse. People from all ages and different background share one thing in common: A love for the Dubs.

When did it all start for you? Was there a specific player or game that made you fall in love with the Warriors?

Did a passion for the team come from your family or friends?

Golden State was not a very good squad for the second half of the 90s when I was growing up. After the 1993-94 season, the Warriors missed the playoffs for 12-straight years, but that didn’t stop fans from cheering them on each season.

The patience of the fans was rewarded when the perfect storm came together to turn the franchise into a juggernaut. Current majority owner Joe Lacob took over the team in 2010, a year after the Warriors drafted Steph Curry, setting the wheels in motion for one of the greatest runs in NBA history.

Klay Thompson and Draymond Green were selected, Bob Myers became GM and the team went onto the become the gold standard of the league. Golden State would go on to make five consecutive NBA Finals appearance, winning three championships.

The franchise is one of the most popular in the NBA, and that will not change anytime soon.

When you look back at it, when did you realize you will be a Warriors fan for life?
